PETITION FOR ADOPTION OF A NEW WAC RULE TO PROHIBIT TARGET SHOOTING ON DEPARTMENT PHEASANT RELEASE SITES DURING PHEASANT SEASON -- DOUG STEIN:
Commissioner Shiosaki moved, seconded by Commissioner Hunter, to deny Doug Stein's Petition for Adoption of a new WAC to prohibit target shooting on Department pheasant release sites during pheasant season. The motion to deny the Petition carried unanimously.

The Commission directed the Department to negotiate with the Skookumchuck Wildlife Area land manager to request the land be posted to prevent target shooting and sighting-in of rifles during pheasant release periods. The Department is to provide an update to the Commission prior to or at the October 1-2, 2004, Commission Workshop.

GENERAL DISCUSSION:
Commissioners and Jeff Koenings discussed recent activities and items of interest.

EXECUTIVE SESSION:
Pursuant to RCW 42.30.110(l)(i), the Commission met in Executive Session for 65 minutes to discuss with legal counsel representing the Department potential litigation to which the Department is or is likely to become a party. The public was not allowed to attend the Executive Session.
