PETITION TO AMEND WAC 220-56-130 - JAMES CHAPMAN:
Commissioner White moved, seconded by Commissioner Van Gytenbeek, to deny James Chapman's Petition to Amend WAC 220-56-130, Unclassified Marine Invertebrates and Fish, and directed the Department to describe in more detail the graceful crab in future fishing pamphlets as an unclassified marine invertebrate. The motion carried unanimously. (Commissioner Tuck was absent during discussion and vote on the motion.)MODIFYING BOUNDARIES FOR MARINE PROTECTED AREAS - BRIEFING:
Mary Lou Mills briefed the Commission on the rule proposals to modify boundaries for marine protected areas to better match the intent of the areas.Public input and Commission consideration of adoption of the final rule proposals will occur at the August 2-3, 2002 Commission meeting in Aberdeen.
REDUCING MINIMUM SIZE FOR MANILA CLAMS IN QUILCENE BAY AND CLOSING KAYAK POINT COUNTY PARK TO CLAMMING - BRIEFING:
Morris Barker briefed the Commission on rule proposals to reduce the minimum size for Manila clams in Quilcene Bay and close Kayak Point County Park to clamming.Public input and Commission consideration of adoption of the final rule proposals will occur at the August 2-3, 2002 Commission meeting in Aberdeen.
COMMISSION ADVISORY COMMITTEE FOR THE DISABLED:
Commissioner White moved, seconded by Commissioner Shiosaki, to appoint the following individuals to the Commission Advisory Committee for the Disabled for terms ending June 30, 2005:- Region 1: Richard Villalobos;
- Region 2: Thomas Baskin;
- Region 3: William Hoage;
- Region 4: Albert (Bill) Vincent;
- Region 5: Chad Jones;
- Region 6: Dan Eberle; and
- At Large: Larry English.The motion carried unanimously.
COMMISSION OPERATIONS MANAGER:
The Commission immediately went into Executive Session to review the performance of a public employee.Chair Cahill reconvened the conference call.
Commissioner White moved, seconded by Commissioner Tuck, that the Commission return Debbie Nelson from the exempt service to the classified service, and that the Commission express its appreciation for her many years of service to this and past commissions, and that the Commission begin the process of recruiting for the position of Operations Manager. The motion carried unanimously.
Commissioner Van Gytenbeek moved, seconded by Commissioner Tuck, to instruct the Director and suggest to him that a fair salary rate for Debbie Nelson would be one-half the difference between her existing rate today and the rate to which she is being assigned. The motion carried unanimously.
