CONFERENCE CALL March 17, 2006 - 8:30 a.m. Olympia, Washington ATTENDANCE: Commission Department Ron Ozment, Chair Jeff Koenings, Director Jerry Gutzwiler Larry Peck, Deputy Director Conrad Mahnken Bruce Bjork, Enforcement Program Chuck Perry Guy Norman, Region 5 Director Will Roehl Morris Barker, Fish Program Shirley Solomon Evan Jacoby, Enforcement Program Miranda Wecker Public Commission Staff: None Nancy Burkhart APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Commissioner Wecker moved, seconded by Commissioner Mahnken, to approve the minutes of the following: - March, 3, 2006, Commission conference call; and - March 10, 2006, Commission meeting. The motion carried unanimously. AQUATIC FARM REGISTRATION RULES -- BRIEFING: Evan Jacoby briefed the Commission on site description for aquatic farm registration to conform to the site description for sanitary shellfish certification. The Commission will consider action at its April 7-8, 2006, Commission meeting in Tumwater. RETENTION OF TAGGED BOTTOMFISH AND HERRING RULES -- BRIEFING: Morris Barker briefed the Commission on the retention of tagged bottomfish and herring. The studies (which took place in the late 1970s and early 1980s) have been concluded, and retention of tagged bottomfish and herring is not necessary. The Commission will consider action at its April 7-8, 2006, Commission meeting in Tumwater. GENERAL DISCUSSION: Commissioners and Director Koenings discussed recent activities and items of interest.
