3. COLUMBIA RIVER DREDGING AND CHANNEL DEEPENING PROJECT UPDATE:

Department staff will provide a status report on the Columbia River dredging and channel deepening project.

4. PELAGIC EXPERIMENTAL FISHERY -- BRIEFING:

Department staff will brief the Commission on the advisability of establishing an experimental fishery for sardine, mackerel, and squid.

5. AMENDMENTS TO PUGET SOUND COMMERCIAL DOGFISH RULES:

NOTE: This agenda has been removed to allow for additional staff review

The Commission will consider adoption of permanent amendments to the following rules to discontinue commercial dogfish fisheries in the northern and southern Puget Sound until populations recover:

6. AMENDMENT TO SHELLFISH HARVEST LOG BOOK REQUIREMENTS:

The Commission will consider adoption of a permanent amendment to WAC 220-52-075, Shellfish Harvest Logs, to ensure accurate harvest reporting of sea urchins, sea cucumbers, and shrimp.

8:30 a.m. 8. MODIFIED DELEGATION OF AUTHORITY TO DIRECTOR FOR PERMANENT FISHERY RULE MAKING FOR OCEAN WATERS INSIDE 3 MILES AND THE OUTER STRAIT OF JUAN DE FUCA:

The Commission will consider extending the delegation of authority currently granted to the Director in the federal Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) to include Washington marine waters westerly of the Sekiu River mouth. This modified delegation would further ensure that rules passed by the State of Washington are consistent with those passed by the Pacific Marine Fishery Management Council and Department of Commerce in the EEZ

9. ADOPTION OF 2000 NORTH OF FALCON POLICY:

The Commission will consider adoption of the proposed 2000 North of Falcon Policy. This policy is necessary to provide clearly understood Commission guidance to the Department in conduct of its annual delegated development of salmon fishery regulations through the North of Falcon management planning process and associated PFMC deliberations.

The Commission will consider adoption of the proposed Puget Sound Shrimp Fishery Policy.

11. ADOPTION OF PUGET SOUND CRAB FISHERY POLICY:

Department staff will present the proposed Puget Sound Crab Fishery Policy, followed by a ten-minute presentation by two members of the Crab Advisory Board. The Commission will accept public input and then consider adoption of the proposed policy.

From I-5 north or southbound, take Anacortes Exit 230 and head west on Highway 20. Continue into Anacortes (Commercial Avenue). Turn right onto 6th Street. At stop sign, turn left onto Q Avenue. Municipal Building is on left; parking is available at rear of building.

All meeting attendees must use rear north entrance to the building, then take elevator to council chambers.
