report on the HPA ESA Compliance Project

3. CHERRY POINT HERRING --
BRIEFING: Department staff
will provide a briefing on the status

4. COUGAR REMOVAL WITH THE
AID OF DOGS: The Commission
will consider adoption of a permanent
amendment to WAC 232-28-272,
2000-2001, 2001-2002 and 2002-2003 Black
Bear and Cougar Hunting Seasons and
Regulations. This amendment
would establish criteria which allow
the use of hounds to remove cougars,
identify removal rate, establish participation
and reporting requirements, and establish
the dates for the 2000-2001 public safety
cougar removals. (NOTE: Public input
on the proposed rule amendment was accepted
at the September 16, 2000 Commission
meeting; no additional public input

6. COLUMBIA RIVER SMELT (EULACHON)
POLICY AND MANAGEMENT PLAN -- BRIEFING: Department staff will brief the Commission
on the development of a policy and management
plan goals for maintaining healthy populations
of Columbia River smelt while assuring
the integrity of the ecosystem and habitat
upon which the smelt depend.* (Bill

SPECIAL NOTES:
* This is for discussion purposes
only. Public input on and Commission consideration
of adoption of the final proposed policy
will occur at the December 8-9, 2000 Commission
meeting in Tukwila.
Commission workshops are held
to allow informal discussion among Commissioners
and Department staff. They are open to all
who wish to observe Commission activities,
except the Executive Sessions are closed
to the public. Public input is generally
not taken. Times indicated on the agenda
are approximate; the Commission may adjust
the agenda to meet scheduling needs. Feel
free to contact Debbie Nelson, Commission
Operations Manager (360 - 902-2267), to
verify the final agenda.
Directions and Access to
the Natural Resources Building: From
I-5, take State Capitol exit (105). The
exit puts you on 14th Avenue. Go through
the tunnel and turn right onto Capitol Way.
Turn right onto 11th Avenue. Turn right
onto Washington. Turn left into the parking
lot. Visitor parking is on the P-1 level
of the building. Public access
to the Building on Saturday will be available
only through the rotunda doors located on
the west end of the building. Contact Debbie Nelson by October 2 if assistance
for persons with disabilities is needed.
