APPROVAL OF CRAWFISH PERSONAL-USE REVISION:
Bob Gibbons presented a permanent amendment to WAC 220-56-315,
Crab, Shrimp, Crawfish--Unlawful Acts. This amendment
would allow setting and pulling of crawfish gear at
night and during the day.
Commissioner White moved, seconded by Commissioner
Van Gytenbeek, to adopt WAC 220-56-315, Crab, Shrimp,
Crawfish--Unlawful Acts. The motion to adopt the
permanent amendment carried unanimously.
APPROVAL OF KALAMA RIVER STEELHEAD CATCH-AND-RELEASE
FISHERY:
The Department withdrew its proposal to adopt a permanent
amendment to WAC 232-28-619, Washington Food Fish and
Game Fish--Freshwater Exceptions to Statewide Rules.
The Department will present it to the Commission at
the September 27-28, 2002 Commission Meeting for consideration
of adoption.
APPROVAL OF LEWIS RIVER POWER CANAL FISHERY:
The Department withdrew its proposal to adopt a permanent
amendment to WAC 232-28-619, Washington Food Fish and
Game Fish--Freshwater Exceptions to Statewide Rules.
The Department will present it to the Commission at
the September 27-28, 2002 Commission Meeting for consideration
of adoption.
APPROVAL OF PROPOSED 2003 REQUEST LEGISLATION:
Josh Weiss presented the Department's proposed 2003
Request Legislation: (1) authorization for the Department
to use controlled substances for wildlife capture and
handling; and (2) watchable wildlife decal.
Commissioner White moved, seconded by Commissioner
Van Gytenbeek, to approve the Department's proposed
2003 Request Legislation for submission to the Office
of Financial Management, with the caveat that a letter
to Governor Locke be included that the Commission may
want to revise the wording on the watchable wildlife
decal bill. The motion to approve the 2003 Request
Legislation carried unanimously. (Commissioner
Pelly was absent during discussion and vote on the motion.)
APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
Commissioner Roehl moved, seconded by Commissioner
Van Gytenbeek, to approve the minutes of the following:
- July 18, 2002 Commission conference call;
- August 2-3, 2002 Commission meeting;
- August 15, 2002 Commission conference call;
and
- August 22, 2002 Commission meeting.
The motion to approve the minutes carried
unanimously. (Commissioner Pelly was absent
during discussion and vote on the motion.)
RECENT ACTIVITIES:
Commissioners and Director Koenings discussed recent
activities and items of interest.
Because of concerns that there needed to be more public
input on the license fee study revenue alternatives, the Department will brief the Commission
on the license fee study at the September 27-28, 2002
Commission meeting.
