3. SEA LION / FISHERIES INTERACTIONS
- Briefing:
Department staff along with Garth Griffin,
ESA Coordinator, NOAA Fisheries, will
brief the Commission on marine mammal
laws and actions that may be undertaken
by the state and individuals to control
sea lions.

4. COMMERCIAL WILD SHELLFISH RULES
- ACTION:
The Commission will consider adoption
of permanent rule amendments that would
establish a new emerging commercial fishery
for commercial harvest of wild embedded
shellfish from private property. Action
on this item was continued by Commission
vote during the September 15, 2005, conference
call meeting. Department staff recommends
further continuation of these rules to
a future Commission meeting.

NEW SECTIONS:
- WAC 220-88D-010, Emerging commercial
fishery--Commercial wild clams, mussels,

and oyster harvest on nonstate lands as
an emerging commercial fishery;
- WAC 220-88D-030, Eligibility

commercial wild clams, mussels, and oysters--Application
requirements--Survey and notification

5. LANDS 20/20 VISION - Briefing:
Department staff will brief the Commission
on a vision statement for Department lands
that clearly defines the role of the Department
in acquiring and managing lands for fish
and wildlife. This vision statement: "Lands
20/20: A Clear Vision for the Future"
has recently been published and will guide
land transactions and management for the
future.

- DECISION:
The Commission will consider approval
of various proposed land transactions:
- Proposed Acquisition of 359 acres
of elk habitat, Upper Yakima River,
Kittitas County.
- Proposed Acquisition of 62 acres
for waterfowl and salmon, Padillia
Bay, Skagit County.
- Proposed Acquisition of 49 acres
for salmon habitat restoration, Dungeness
River, Clallam County.
- Proposed Donation of 13 acres for
waterfowl habitat, Chehalis Valley,
Grays Harbor County.

River.

Directions and Access to the
Natural Resources Building: From I-5, take
State Capitol exit (105). The exit puts you
on 14th Avenue. Go through the tunnel and turn
right onto Capitol Way. Turn right onto 11th
Avenue. Turn right onto Washington. Turn left
into the parking lot. Visitor parking is on
the P-1 level of the building.
Public access to the Natural
Resources Building after 5:30 p.m. and on
Saturday will be available only through the
rotunda doors located on the west end of the
building.
