MEETING MINUTES

FISH AND WILDLIFE COMMISSION
CONFERENCE CALL September 21, 2007 - 8:30 a.m.
Olympia, Washington

Vice Chair Wecker called the conference call to order at 8:35 a.m.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
Commissioner Perry moved, seconded by Commissioner Douvia, to approve the minutes of the following:

- July 20, 2007, Conference Call;
- July 25, 2007, Special Meeting;
- July 26, 2007, Special Meeting;
- August 2, 2007, Special Joint Meeting with Washington State Conservation Commission; and
- August 17, 2007, Conference Call.
The motion carried unanimously.
(Commissioner Perry was absent during discussion and vote on the motion.)

GENERAL DISCUSSION:
In memory of Rocky Spencer, Fish and Wildlife Biologist killed while on the job, Commissioner Chew moved, seconded by Commissioner Mahnken, to create a special award, “Rocky Spencer Memorial Award for Excellence”, and select Rocky Spencer as the first recipient. The motion carried unanimously.

Commissioner Wecker moved, seconded by Commissioner Mahnken, to request the Department present a briefing at the November 2-3, 2007, or December 7-8, 2007, Commission meeting on the Puget Sound recreational crab fishery. The briefing is to include information on enforcement issues, problems with lack of compliance, tribal harvest, and status report on data compiled from the first half of the season. The motion carried.

Vice Chair adjourned the conference call at 9:30 a.m.
