Vice Chair Wecker called the meeting
to order at 8:38 a.m.
DEPARTMENT'S 2009 LEGISLATIVE
PROPOSALS - DECISION:
Tom Davis presented for approval the Department's
2009 Legislative Proposal package for submittal
to the Office of Financial Management by September
1, 2008. The Commission was briefed on these proposals
at its August 8-9, 2008, meeting in Lynnwood.
Commissioner Solomon moved, seconded,
by Commissioner Perry, to approve the Department's
2009 Legislative Proposals for submittal to the
Office of Financial Management by September 1,
2008. The motion carried unanimously.
SUMMARY OF COMMISSION REQUESTS:
The Commissioners reviewed the current list of
Commission Requests to the Department. This item
was postponed from the August 8-9, 2008, Commission
meeting in Lynnwood.
JOHNSON/DEBAY'S SLOUGH GAME RESERVE
- FOLLOW-UP:
Steve Pozzanghera briefed the Commission on follow-up
action and developments related to the Commission's
adoption of amendments to WAC 232-16-800, Johnson/Debay's
Slough Game Reserve, during the August 8-9, 2008,
Commission meeting in Lynnwood.
COMMISSION COMMITTEE REPORTS:
The Commissioners discussed activities of the
various Commission committees. This item was postponed
from the August 8-9, 2008, Commission meeting
in Lynnwood.
The Commission's wildlife committee
is reviewing the idea of staggered timelines for
the Department's Game Management Plan. Public
input on the 2009-2015 Plan is scheduled for the
September 5-6, 2008, Commission meeting in Olympia.
A decision is scheduled for the October 3-4, 2008,
Commission meeting in Ellensburg* [Olympia].
*During its September 5-6, 2008,
meeting, the Commission voted to hold its October
3-4, 2008, meeting in Olympia in response to the
Governor's directive for state agencies to reduce
travel and expenditures.
GENERAL DISCUSSION:
Topics of discussion included tentative plans
for a joint meeting with the Conservation Commission.
Vice Chair Wecker adjourned the
meeting at 9:38 a.m.
