DIRECTOR SEARCH - UPDATE, DISCUSSION & PUBLIC INPUT:

The Commission – along with Audrey Ely and Anthony Cesario from the Dept. of Personnel Executive Careers – will discuss the current status of the Director Search process and review results from a public survey that concluded on July 17, 2009.

EXECUTIVE SESSION:
Pursuant to RCW 42.30.110, (g), the Commission will go into executive session to review employment applications for the Department Director position and to discuss the qualifications of specific applicants. The public is not permitted to attend the executive session. No decisions will be made during the executive session.

7. 2010 DEPARTMENT PROPOSED LEGISLATION – BRIEFING & DECISION:

Department staff will brief the Commission on proposed Department request legislation for the 2010 legislative session. The Commission may consider final approval during this meeting or delay making a decision until its August 21, 2009, meeting via conference call.

8. MASTER HUNTER PERMIT PROGRAM – RULE BRIEFING & PUBLIC HEARING:

The Commission will consider adopting permanent amendments following the public input opportunity.

14. TURKEY HUNTING IN NORTHEAST WASHINGTON – INVITED TESTIMONY:

Commissioner Gary Douvia invited Freddie Giannecchini, Stevens County Fish and Wildlife Advisory Council member, to present comments about turkey hunting opportunities in Northeast Washington.

15. COLVILLE TRIBES UPDATE ON RECENT FISHERY MANAGEMENT DEVELOPMENTS – BRIEFING:

Joe Peone, Natural Resources Director for the Confederated Tribes of the Colville Reservation, along with WDFW staff, will brief the Commission on several recent advances in fishery management, including an overview of the Tribes’ role in fishery management and recent agreements. The update will cover approval of funding to construct the Chief Joseph Hatchery, Tribal work on developing selective fishery gears, and an assessment of future challenges.
