Chair Wecker called the meeting to order at 8:34 a.m.
A. PROPOSED TOPICS AND VENUE CHANGES: JUNE 4-5, 2010, COMMISSION MEETING—DECISION
The Commission discussed potential agenda topics for the June 4-5, 2010, meeting and options for reducing meeting expenses in response to budget constraints. Chair Wecker suggested reducing the June meeting to one day (June 4) with videoconferencing.
Commissioner Orr moved, seconded by Commissioner Schmitten, to change the June meeting to one day with video conferencing between Spokane and Olympia. The motion carried unanimously.
B. PROPOSED CHANGES: 2010 COMMISSION MEETING CALENDAR
The Commission discussed potential agenda topics for its June 4-5, 2010, meeting and options for further reducing costs associated with Commission meetings. The Commission will continue a discussion about the October meeting location at its June 4, 2010, meeting.
C. APPROVAL OF MEETING MINUTES—DECISION
- May 7, 2010, conference call
Commissioner Jennings moved, seconded by Commissioner Mahnken, to approve the May 7, 2010, conference call minutes as proposed.
The motion carried unanimously.
D. GENERAL DISCUSSION
Commissioners and Department staff discussed recent activities and items of interest, including:
- Rulemaking plans and status
- Lead in lakes proposal
- Stevens County antler restriction
- Budget concerns
- Review of NMFS
- Columbia River fisheries
- Assistant Director position, Wildlife Program
Chair Wecker adjourned the meeting at 10:05 a.m.
