Chair Wecker called the meeting to order at 8:32 a.m.
A. SUMMARY OF COMMISSION REQUESTS:
Director Anderson updated the Commissioners on the status of Commission requests. No new requests were suggested.
B. COMMISSION COMMITTEE REPORTS:
This agenda item was postponed until the next Commission conference call on July 2, 2010.
C. PUGET SOUND CRAB POLICY REVIEW OPTIONS:
Rich Childers briefed the Commissioners on the Department’s recreational and commercial advisory group’s recommendations for crab allocation options. The Commissioner’s reviewed the different options and took action.
Commissioner Orr moved, seconded by Commissioner Chew to approve the Department’s recommendation to reduce the six options to three.
Motion carried unanimously.
The Commission’s Fish Committee is to work with Director Anderson to draft a revised Puget Sound Crab policy before the August 6-7, 2010 meeting in Olympia.
D. GENERAL DISCUSSION
Chair Wecker briefed the Commissioners on the meeting agenda development process and encouraged them to become more involved in the planning. The Commissioners also discussed the upcoming August meeting and potential alternatives due to the 2010 legislation that designates August 6 as a temporary layoff day.
Chuck Perry reported to the Commissioners about the Game Advisory Group meeting he attended in Ellensburg and commented on how well it was run and how positive the group was.
Chair Wecker adjourned the meeting at 10:19 a.m.
