7. ELWHA RIVER FISHING CURTAILMENT – RULE BRIEFING & PUBLIC HEARING:

Department staff will brief the Commission on proposed amendments to WAC 232-28-619 Washington food fish and game fish – Freshwater exceptions to statewide rules, that would establish a recreational fishing closure of Elwha River and tributaries downstream of Olympic National Park to protect fish stocks during removal of dams on the Elwha River beginning in 2011. The Commission will consider adoption of permanent amendments at its February 4-5, 2011, meeting in Olympia.

The Commission held a public hearing on proposed amendments to WAC 220-56-330, Crab—areas and seasons, at its December 2-4, 2010, Commission meeting in Olympia, and will consider adoption of permanent at its February 4-5, 2011, meeting in Olympia.
