Vice Chair Douvia called the meeting to order at 8:40 a.m.
A. APPROVAL OF MINUTES – DECISION:
Commissioner Wecker moved, seconded by Commissioner Perry, to approve the minutes of the March 12-13, 2010, and December 2-4, 2010, meetings as presented. The motion carried unanimously.
B. BUYING/SELLING GAME – RULE ACTION:
Deputy Chief Mike Cenci reviewed proposed amendments to WAC 232-12-071, Buying or selling game-farmed meat exception, which would specifically prohibit trafficking in edible parts of wild animals. The Commission held a public hearing on this proposal at its February 4-5, 2011, meeting in Olympia.
Commissioner Wecker moved, seconded by Commissioner Jennings, to adopt the WAC rule amendments as presented. The motion carried unanimously.
C. LEGISLATIVE UPDATE:
Director Anderson, Ann Larson and Dep. Director Stohr reviewed the current status of and discussed with Commissioners legislation related to fish, wildlife and natural resource management, including fiscal impacts and budget proposals.
D. SUMMARY OF COMMISSION REQUESTS:
Director Anderson reviewed and discussed with Commissioners the current status of Commission requests to the Department.
D. UPCOMING MEETING AGENDA:
Commissioners and Department staff discussed potential agenda items for the April 8-9, 2011, Commission meeting in Olympia.
E. GENERAL DISCUSSION:
Commissioners and Department staff discussed items of general interest, including hunter education news and ideas for improving the effectiveness of the Commission’s committee structure and process.
