Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD)

Check Your Deer and Elk Harvest for CWD

Please help WDFW monitor the health of our deer and elk populations by allowing us to test your harvested animals for Chronic Wasting Disease.

If you harvest a deer or elk in the eastern third of Washington (east of the Columbia River), your animal can be sampled at most check stations or by calling us to arrange a time to meet.

We remove tissue samples from the animal’s neck near the “Adam’s apple” or at the base of the skull, so we do not need the entire animal.

If you would like to have a biologist sample your deer or elk, please call: (509) 989-6224
