Lower Columbia River-Recreational Spring Chinook
- The states of Washington and Oregon met today to review the upriver spring Chinook run and consider additional fishing opportunity during the spring season.
- The mainstem Columbia River will remain open for the retention of adipose fin-clipped spring Chinook salmon from the Tongue Point/Rocky Point line upstream to the I-5 Bridge through June 15, 2007. The fishery was scheduled for closure May 31. The daily limit is 6 salmon, of which only two can be adults. Release wild Chinook.
Miscellaneous Regulations:
- For the mainstem Columbia River salmon and steelhead fishery upstream of the Tongue Point/Rocky Point line effective through June 15, 2007, it is unlawful when fishing from vessels which are less than 30 feet in length, substantiated by Coast Guard documentation or Marine Board registration, to totally remove from the water any salmon or steelhead required to be released.
FUTURE MEETINGS
- A hearing is scheduled for 11 AM Thursday, June 14 via teleconference to consider treaty Indian and non-Indian summer commercial fishing periods.
- A hearing is scheduled for 10 AM Thursday July 26 to consider non-Indian fall commercial fishing periods (location to be announced).
