WDFW - Ringold, Hanford Reach and Yakima River Fishing Reports

During February an estimated 111 steelhead were caught, 80 of these were retained (59 adrv, 21 ad), 9 wild steelhead were caught and released. Catch, harvest, and angler effort for February were similar to the past two years but well below February 2004. Anglers average 10 hours per steelhead (same as January). Boat anglers and bank anglers both averaged a steelhead for each 10.0 hours fished.

The Ringold Springs Rearing Facility collected, caudal clipped, and transported 409 hatchery steelhead between Nov 1 and Dec 20. These fish were released in the Tri-cities to provide additional angling opportunity. In February, 8 of these recycled steelhead were harvested. To date, 99 recycled steelhead have been retained, 24% of the total transported and released.
