Salmon/Steelhead -

Cowlitz River - Anglers are catching summer run steelhead near Blue Creek.

Wind River - No fish were sampled but steelhead were reported rolling at the mouth.

Drano Lake - Including fish released, boat anglers averaged 1.7 summer run steelhead per rod. A few chinook were also being caught. Bank anglers were also catching some steelhead.

Effort continues to increase. 95 boats were counted last Saturday (August 6) morning. Surface temperature was 70 degrees. Lots of aquatic vegetation was reported.

White Salmon River - Anglers are catching summer run steelhead. A few chinook were also reported caught. 33 water craft reported last Saturday.

Buoy 10 - About 50 boats were counted during last Saturday's flight. No report available from WDFW. ODFW reported 86 boats with 3 chinook from August 2-4.

Lower Columbia below Bonneville Dam - Steelhead catches were still down. Overall, anglers averaged a fish kept/released per every 9 rods. Slightly over half the fish caught were kept. A few fall chinook and sea run cutthroat are appearing in the catch.

Approximately 1/3 of the 200 boats were found at the mouth of the Cowlitz during last Saturday's flight. Slightly over 200 bank anglers were counted along the Washington shore with the majority found between Kalama and Cathlamet.

 

Sturgeon -

Lower Columbia from the mouth upstream to the Wauna power lines - Effort remains fairly high with over 200 private and 5 charter boats counted during last Saturday's flight. Scheduled to remain open for sturgeon retention through August 15.

Ports of Chinook and Ilwaco - Charter boat anglers averaged 0.73 legal white sturgeon per rod while private boaters averaged 0.20 per rod.

Deep River and Knappton ramps - Boat anglers averaged 1/3 legal kept per rod.

Wauna powerlines upstream to Bonneville Dam - Effort has dropped since the fishery went to catch and release only. 32 boats were counted during last Saturday's flight.

Warm water species -

Swofford Pond - Producing bluegills, perch, and bass in addition to rainbow trout.

Lower Columbia from Camas/Washougal upstream to Bonneville Dam - 9 boats fishing for walleye were counted during last Saturday's flight. We sampled some fish kept from the Camas/Washougal area.

Trout -

Mayfield Lake - Bank anglers are catching some rainbows.

Riffe Lake - Bank anglers are catching some landlocked coho and chinook.
