Lower Columbia below Bonneville Dam - Effort and catches are increasing. Last week we sampled 1,745 salmonid anglers with 87 adult and 3 jack fall chinook, 182 steelhead, and 1 coho. Boat anglers averaged an adult chinook and a steelhead per about every 16 rods, respectively, based on mainly completed trips. Bank anglers averaged an adult chinook and steelhead per every 31 and 7 rods, respectively, based on mainly incomplete trips. 140 (77%) of the steelhead caught were kept.

Bonneville Pool - Boat anglers are catching some steelhead and chinook.

Hanford Reach - The first week of the Hanford sport fisheries was a slow starter. Weather was nice this week as well as the water conditions. 14 anglers (three shore and 11 boat) were checked with one fall chinook and released 1 wild summer steelhead. No news on success at the mouth of the Yakima which is typically good in the early part of the season.
