Lower Columbia below Bonneville Dam - Fall chinook catches have increased but were still down about 50% from last year. Last week boat anglers averaged an adult chinook per every 9.2 rods while bank anglers averaged one per every 34.5 rods. During the same period in 2004, boat anglers averaged a chinook per every 5.7 rods while bank anglers averaged one per every 16 rods.

Fall chinook and steelhead catches were scattered throughout the river last week. Including fish released, bank and boat anglers averaged a steelhead per every 20 rods based on mainly incomplete and completed trips, respectively. Slightly over half the steelhead caught were kept.

Bonneville Dam adult fall chinook counts continue to lag behind recent years. From August 1 through August 28, a total of 31,556 fish have been counted. It's the lowest total to date since 1994.

365 salmonid boats were counted during last Saturday's flight. In comparison, 800 boats were counted during the same period last year. In addition, Washington bank effort was down over 60% from 2004.

Last Saturday, nearly 1/3 (120) of the boats were found from the I-205 Bridge to Washougal.

Bonneville Pool - Effort continues to slowly increase at the mouths of the Washington tributaries. About a dozen boats each counted off the Klickitat, White Salmon, and Drano Lake last Saturday.

Cowlitz River from Olequa to Barrier Dam - 10 bank anglers caught 5 summer run steelhead and 2 sea run cutthroats. 7 boat anglers caught 6 summer run steelhead.

Riffe Lake - 14 bank anglers caught 2 coho and 2 brown bullheads

Sturgeon -

Sturgeon and walleye effort remains low - 7 sturgeon and 5 walleye boats were found from Bonneville Dam downstream during last Saturday's flight.

Lower Columbia below Bonneville Dam - Effort continues to be low during the current catch and release season.

Walleye -

Sturgeon and walleye effort remains low - 7 sturgeon and 5 walleye boats were found from Bonneville Dam downstream during last Saturday's flight.

Lower Columbia below Bonneville Dam - A few boat anglers sampled in the Camas Washougal area. They reported no success.

Trout -

Mineral Lake - Planted with 2,200 half-pound rainbows last week
