Sport Sampling Results for January 28-February 3, 2002
Sport Sampling Summaries - PDF Format
Salmon/Steelhead
- Bonneville, The Dalles, and John
Day pools - All are producing steelhead. Counting fish released, some areas
were producing a fish per rod.
- An adult spring chinook was observed
at the Bonneville Trap last week.
Sturgeon
- Bonneville Pool - Boat anglers
averaged 1/3 legal kept per rod last week. Slow for legal sized fish from
the bank.
- The Dalles Pool - Boat anglers
caught a few legal sized fish last week. Bank fishing was slow.
- John Day Pool - Slow for legal
sized fish.
Walleye and Bass and
other warm water fish
- Bonneville, The Dalles, and John
Day pools - No in-sample catches of walleye or bass observed last week.
Trout
- Recent releases in Southwest Washington
waters include:
- Battle Ground Lake - 174 winter
steelhead averaging 10 pounds each;
- Ice House Lake near Bridge
of the Gods - 46 winter steelhead averaging 10 pounds each;
- Fort Borst Pond near Centralia
- 3,000 catchable rainbows
Smelt
- Cowlitz River - Fishing for smelt
was slower last weekend. Best dipping was in the Lexington area with 0-6 fish
per dip. Very slow elsewhere.
- Lewis River - Birds were getting
smelt up to the I-5 Bridge last weekend.
