Salmon/Steelhead -
Cowlitz River - 8 bank anglers from Olequa downstream had no catch. No creel sampling was conducted upstream.
Lower Columbia below I-5 - Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife sampled a hatchery spring chinook caught off the bank near Rainier late last week.
Bonneville Pool - No salmonid effort was found there.
The Dalles Pool - Light effort and no catch observed.
John Day Pool - No report.
Sturgeon -
Lower Columbia below Bonneville Dam - 4 bank anglers just downstream from Bonneville Dam during two sampling days had no catch.
Bonneville Pool - Boat anglers averaged a legal kept per every 3 rods. Bank anglers were also catching a few legals. Through January, an estimated 37 of the preliminary 700 fish guideline had been taken.
The Dalles Pool - Including fish released, boat anglers averaged a legal per every 7 rods. Bank angling was slow. Through January, an estimated 15 of the preliminary 400 fish guideline had been taken.
John Day Pool - No report. No catch was taken in January from the preliminary 165 fish guideline.
Walleye and Bass
Bonneville Pool - No effort was observed for either species.
The Dalles Pool - Boat and bank anglers averaged a walleye per rod when including fish released.
John Day Pool - No report.
Trout -
Klineline Pond - 15 bank anglers kept 1 rainbow and 4 brood trout.
Smelt -
Mainstem Columbia - No updated reports are currently available.
Cowlitz River - No sport effort or birds/seals/sea lions observed from Longview to Castle Rock last Saturday (Feb. 12).
