Salmon/Steelhead -
Cowlitz River - Effort and catches were light from the I-5 Bridge downstream.
Lake Scanewa (Cowlitz Falls Reservoir) - Including fish released, boat anglers averaged a coho per rod. Slow for bank anglers.
Lewis River - Some coho are being caught by bank anglers near the salmon hatchery. Through October 26, a total of 36 winter steelhead had returned to the facilities.
Klickitat River - No report on angling success. Per permanent rules, all chinook must be released from the Fisher Hill Bridge upstream beginning tomorrow, November 1.
Lower Columbia below Bonneville Dam - A few chinook are being caught by boat anglers in the gorge. Beacon Rock upstream to Bonneville Dam closes to fishing for salmon beginning tomorrow, November 1.
Sturgeon -
Lower Columbia from the Wauna powerlines upstream to Bonneville Dam - Bank anglers just below Bonneville Dam averaged a legal kept per every 5.6 rods based on mainly incomplete trips. Boat anglers in the Camas/Washougal area averaged about ½ legal per boat when including fish released based on mainly completed trips.
The projected harvest for October is 5,525 white sturgeon. The total catch to date is 10,500 white sturgeon. The catch guideline for the year is 12,800 fish.
In November and December 2004, sturgeon catches were 1,500 and 540 fish, respectively, under similar three-day per week retention regulations. However, the October 2004 catch of 3,740 sturgeon was significantly lower than October 2005.
Trout -
Battle Ground Lake - On October 21, planted with 872 cutthroats averaging over 1.5 pounds each.
Goose Lake - Received 1,635 cutthroats averaging over 1.5 pounds each last week
