Salmon/Steelhead -

Cowlitz River - Slower for steelhead last week but fishing for sea-run cutthroats picked up from the I-5 Bridge to the Trout Hatchery.

Klickitat River - Producing some fall chinook for bank anglers on the lower river.

Last week's coho catch rates were the highest of the season and the catch rate for chinook was the second highest. For the week, WA and OR sampling showed 3,776 angler trips produced 1,183 chinook and 1,118 coho.

Lower Columbia below Bonneville Dam - Last week boat anglers averaged a adult chinook per every 3.4 rods while bank anglers averaged one per every 11.1 rods. Best catches were from Longview to Vancouver.

Yesterday (Sept. 6), nearly 27,000 adult fall chinook were counted at Bonneville Dam. Steelhead have begun to move upstream with the cooling mainstem Columbia (66 degrees at Bonneville yesterday). 12,400 steelhead were counted at The Dalles Dam on Sept. 4.

Hanford Reach - Angling effort was light last week. 6 boat anglers and 2 bank anglers had no catch. Effort and catch should increase next week with an influx of chinook to the area.


Sturgeon -

Lower Columbia below Bonneville Dam - Light effort in the catch and release only fishery.


Walleye and Bass - No report.


Trout - No report.
