For the week of November 9-November 15, all areas are currently closed except as follows:

Area 7/7A

Open for Reef Nets 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. daily through November 15. Chinook and sockeye must be released.

Open to gill nets using 61/4 inch minimum mesh size from 7 am to 7 pm daily, Monday, November 10th thru Friday, November 14th.

Open to purse seines using the 5 inch strip from 7 am to 5 pm daily Monday, November 10th thru Friday, November 14th. Chinook and coho must be released and brailing is required.

Area 7B

Open to gill nets using 6 1/4 inch minimum mesh size 7 a.m. November 10th thru 4 p.m. November 14th and to purse seines using the 5 inch strip 6 a.m. November 10th thru 4 p.m. November 14th. Sockeye salmon must be released from purse seines. The waters of Area 7B east of a line from Post Point to the west entrance to Squalicum Harbor are open continuously thru 4 pm December 5 to gill nets using 6 1/4 inch mesh and purse seines using 5 inch strip.

Open to holders of a beach seine permit 7 am to 7 pm daily, Mondays thru Fridays thru November 14. Chinook salmon must be released immediately.

Area 8

Open to gill nets using 6 1/4 inch minimum mesh and purse seines using the 5 inch strip from 7 am to 5 pm on Thursday November 13th. Chinook must be released from purse seines.

Area 8A

Open to gill nets using 6 1/4 inch minimum mesh during the following periods:

7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Daily, Tuesday, November 11th, Thursday, November 13th and Friday, November 14th.

Open to purse seines using the 5 inch strip from 7 am to 5 pm Monday, November 10th and Wednesday, November 12th. Chinook must be released.

Area 8D

Open to gill nets using 6 1/4 inch minimum mesh during the following periods:

4:00 p.m. Monday November, 10th thru 8:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 11th.
4:00 p.m. Tuesday November, 11th thru 8:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 12th.
4:00 p.m. Wednesday November, 12th thru 8:00 a.m. Thursday, November 13th.
4:00 p.m. Thursday November, 13th thru 8:00 a.m. Friday, November 14th.

Open to purse seines using the 5 inch strip from 7 am to 5 pm Monday, November 10th and Wednesday, November 12th. Chinook must be released.

Areas 10 and 11

Open to gill nets using 6 1/4 inch minimum mesh during the following periods:

4:00 p.m. Sunday, November 9th thru 8:00 a.m. Monday, November 10th.
4:00 p.m. Tuesday. November 11th thru 8:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 12th.
4:00 p.m. Thursday, November 13th thru 8:00 a.m. Friday, November 14th.

Open to purse seines using the 5 inch strip from 7 am to 5 pm Monday, November 10th and Wednesday, November 12th. Chinook and coho must be released.

Areas 12 and 12B

Open to gill nets using 6 1/4 inch minimum mesh during the following periods:

7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m daily, Tuesday, November 11th, Wednesday, November 12th and Thursday November 13th.

Area 12 B South of a line from Quatsap Point to Hood Point closed to gill nets on November 12th and 13th.

Open to purse seines using the 5 inch strip from 7 am to 5 pm Monday, November 10th, and Wednesday, November 12th. Chinook must be released.

Area 12C

Open to gill nets using 6 1/4 inch minimum mesh 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m, Tuesday, November 11th.

Open to purse seines using the 5 inch strip from 7 am to 5 pm Wednesday, November 12th. Chinook must be released.

All other Puget Sound marine and freshwater areas are closed to all-citizen commercial salmon fishing until further notice.

The Fifth day of the Apple Cove chum test fishery was conducted on Tuesday. November 4th. A total of 4876 chum were taken in 5 sets. This information along with other commercial catch data has been used to update the run size to 638,000 chum returning to south sound.
