Puget Sound Commercial Fisheries Hotline Message Number 23, recorded Monday, November 24, 2003 at 4:00 pm.

Market conditions have been changing fishers are advised to make sure that they have a market prior to fishing.

A change from Hotline Message 22, recorded Friday, November 21, is that the Area 10 and 11 gill net fishery on the night of November 27th has been canceled.

For the week of November 23-November 29, all areas are currently closed except as follows:

Area 7B

Open to gill nets using 6 1/4 inch minimum mesh size continuously thru 4 p.m. December 5th and to purse seines using the 5 inch strip 6 a.m. November 24th thru 4 p.m. November 29th. Sockeye salmon must be released from purse seines. The waters of Area 7B east of a line from Post Point to the west entrance to Squalicum Harbor are open continuously thru 4 pm December 5 to gill nets using 6 1/4 inch mesh and purse seines using 5 inch strip.

Area 8

Open to gill nets using 6 1/4 inch minimum mesh from 7 am to 6 pm on Tuesday, November 25th.

Open to purse seines using the 5 inch strip from 7 am to 5 pm on Tuesday, November 25th. Chinook must be released from purse seines.

Area 8A

Open to gill nets using 6 1/4 inch minimum mesh during the following periods:

7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Daily, Monday, November 24th, Tuesday, November 25th, Wednesday, November 26 and Friday, November 28th.

Open to purse seines using the 5 inch strip from 7 am to 5 pm Monday, November 24 and Tuesday, November 25th. Chinook must be released.

Area 8D

Closed

Areas 10 and 11

Open to gill nets using 6 1/4 inch minimum mesh during the following periods:

4:00 p.m. Tuesday, November, 25th thru 8:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 26th.

Areas 12C

Open to gill nets using 6 1/4 inch minimum mesh from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m, Tuesday, November 25th.

Open to purse seines using the 5 inch strip from 7 am to 5 pm Monday, November 24th and Tuesday, November 25th. Chinook must be released.

All other Puget Sound marine and freshwater areas are closed to all-citizen commercial salmon fishing until further notice.
