FISHING RULE

Action: Green River (King County) closes to
retention of chinook and an additional area closes to all fishing.
1. Requires release of chinook salmon on the Green River. 2. Closes all
fishing on the Green River from Tukwilla International Boulevard/Pacific Highway
South to Interstate 5 through September 15.
Effective dates: September 1 through
December 31.
Species affected: All Species
Location: 1. Green River from First Avenue
South Bridge to Tukwilla International Boulevard/Pacific Highway South Bridge.
2. Green River from Tukwilla International Boulevard/Pacific Highway South
Bridge to Interstate 5 Bridge.
Reasons for action: Based state and tribal
fisheries, the number of chinook returning to the Green River system appears to
be well below the pre-season forecast and additional fishing could result in not
meeting the escapement goal.
Other information:
1. Beginning September 1, the Green River from the First Avenue South Bridge
upstream to the Tukwilla International Boulevard/Pacific Highway South Bridge
will open for fishing. The salmon daily limit is 6 salmon of which only 3 may be
adult salmon, release all chinook. The trout daily limit is 2 fish, with a
minimum size of 14 inches in length.
2. From Tukwilla International Boulevard/Pacific Highway South Bridge
upstream to the Interstate 5 Bridge, all fishing will continue to be closed
September 1 through September 15. This section will re-open for fishing
beginning September 16. Beginning September 16, the salmon daily limit is 6
salmon of which only 3 may be adult salmon, release all chinook. The trout daily
limit is 2 fish, with a minimum size of 14 inches in length.
3. All other rules and regulations for the Green River remain in effect as
listed in the Fishing in Washington Sport Fishing Rules pamphlet.
