2009-2010 Sport Rule Adoption Process (Minor Cycle)

We have posted the package of rules adopted by the Fish and Wildlife Commission at their February 2009 meeting.  This package includes the original proposals, testimony and comments received, staff recommendations, including any modifications to the original proposals, and the action the Commission took on each proposal.  All of the proposals adopted will take effect May 1, 2009, unless otherwise noted or put into effect by emergency rule.

Timeline for 2009-2010 Sport Rule Adoption Process (Minor Cycle)
Early April Mailing to staff describing process, guidelines, forms, issues, etc.
April/May Meet w/regional staff re: Commission assignments
May 30 Proposals due
June 4 Steelhead Cutthroat Policy Advisory Group meeting
June 6 Proposals distributed for review (regions, species specialists, etc)
June14 Inland Fish Policy Advisory Group meeting
July 7 Responses due back
July 23 Program meeting (including Enforcement and IRM) to discuss proposals, create initial list of approved proposals
July 30 Meet with Fish Program Administration
Aug 6 Meet with Advisory Groups (one large meeting with all groups invited)
August 8 Meet with Commission Fish Committees (Lynwood)
August Meet with Fish Program Administration for Approval
August 26 Meet with Director's Office for Agency Approval
Sept Approved proposals e-mailed to public for comment - package on web site and postcards sent out to notify public
Sept 23 Enforcement Captain's Conference Call - discuss proposals
Sept/Oct Public meetings to discuss proposals
October 3-4 Commission Meeting (Olympia) - brief Commission on proposals
November 7-8 Commission Meeting (Olympia) - Public Hearing - public testimony on proposals
Nov Meet with Advisory Groups (one large meeting with all groups invited)
Nov Program meeting (including Enforcement and IRM) for final decisions on proposals
Dec Meet with Fish Program Administration & Director's Office, adjust rule filing to reflect decisions
Dec Meet with Fish Committees
February 2009 Commission meeting - adoption of rules
May 1, 2009 Pamphlet available - rules take effect
