HARVEST PROFILE: Camano Island State Park is located at Lowell Point on Camano Island (picture of site). Since 2002 Camano Island State Park has been closed to clam harvest due to a dramatic decline in the abundance of native littleneck clams. When open to clam harvesting this beach receives more clam harvesters per day than any other beach in Puget Sound. While butter clams are the species most commonly harvested at this beach, native littleneck clams, cockles, horse clams, eastern softshell clams, and macoma clams are also present in lesser numbers. The most productive areas are the cobble sections of beach at either end of the beach with a relatively nonproductive stretch of sand and gravel in the middle.

From I-5: FACILITIES:
Camping and picnic areas are available. Restrooms with plumbing, faucets,
and water fountains are located adjacent to parking areas along the beach.
There are 3 miles of hiking trails and a boat ramp.
Take exit #212 and head west onto Hwy. 532. Three miles west of Stanwood,
take a left at the fork (the road is now East Camano Dr. and no longer SR 532).
Drive approximately 6 miles on East Camano Dr. (At this point East Camano
Dr. heads left by Windermere. Keep to the main road, which is now Elger Bay Rd).
At a spot marked by Elger Bay Grocery, Exxon and a café, turn right onto
Mountain View. Travel 2 miles, climb a steep hill, then turn left onto
Lowell Point Rd. The road will dead-end at the park entrance.
