Comments:

Big Slough portion surveyed 1973. Fished 1979-1980; 312,000 lbs reported. Resurveyed 1991; 63 transects. Portion of Big Slough fished in 1992 (see Nisqually tract comments). State Parks has withdrawn about 10 acres. Sandy Pt portion surveyed in 1984; fished 1986; 147,022 lbs reported. Sandy Pt. resurveyed 1991; 12 transects. Portions combined into one tract fished January 4-May 23, 1993; 245,648 lbs reported. Combined tract surveyed by WDFW in 1998; 56 transects. Non-Indian harvest from Sept. 1, 1998 to Dec. 31, 2002 is 634,965 lbs. reported. Estimates in table are from 1998 survey and have been adjusted for subsequent fishing.

Tract Description:
The Big Slough/Sandy Point geoduck tract is located approximately two miles northwest of Nisqually Head, in southern Puget Sound. The tract is adjacent to and shares a common boundary with the Dogfish Recovery Bed (#13900) to the north and the Nisqually (#13800) tract to the south. The Big Slough/Sandy Point tract is bounded by a line projected from a point on the -18 foot (MLLW) water depth contour in the northern portion of the tract at 47°08.487' N. latitude, 122°47.051' W. longitude due east to a point on the -70 foot (MLLW) water depth contour at 47°08.487' N. latitude, 122°46.908' W. longitude; then southeasterly along the -70 foot (MLLW) water depth contour to a point at 47°07.473' N. latitude, 122°45.830' W. longitude; then due south to a point on the -18 foot (MLLW) water depth contour at 47°07.328' N. latitude, 122°45.830' W. longitude; then northwesterly along the -18 foot (MLLW) water depth contour to the point of origin. Portions of this tract boundary description fall within 200 yards (600 feet) of the MHW contour line. Washington State Parks has withdrawn a portion of the Big Slough/Sandy Point tract. The withdrawn portion is bounded by a line projected from a point on the -18 foot (MLLW) water depth contour at 47°07.500' N. latitude, 122°46.300' W. longitude northeasterly to a point at 47°07.560' N. latitude, 122°46.180' W. longitude; then southeasterly to a point at 47°07.460' N. latitude, 122°46.025' W. longitude; then southwesterly to a point on the -18 foot (MLLW) water depth contour at 47°07.390' N. latitude, 122°46.150' W. longitude.
