Salmon Recovery Funding Board (SRFB) Reports:

  • 2002 Index Watershed Salmon Recovery Monitoring Report
Dave Seiler, Greg Volkhardt, Andrew Murdoch, Shane Hawkins, and Howard Fuss: Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife and Bill Ehinger: Washington Department of Ecology
Monitoring of all components except habitat began in 2000 and 2001 in five index watersheds: Deschutes River and Big Beef Creek in Puget Sound; Bingham Creek on the Washington Coast; and Cedar Creek and Chiwawa River in the Columbia Basin. This report describes the results of monitoring that occurred during the second year of the project; between October 2001 and September 2002. It also describes the results of first year smolt monitoring under the index watershed monitoring program.
  • 2004 Green/Wenatchee/Cedar Creek
Greg Volkhardt, Pete Topping, Lindsey Fleischer, Todd Miller, Steve Schonning, Dan Rawding and Michelle Groesbeck
This report includes our smolt monitoring activities for the Green River in the fifth year of this project.

Green River

  • 2000 Green River Juvenile Salmonid Production Evaluation
Dave Seiler, Greg Volkhardt, Lori Kishimoto and Pete Topping.  April 2002
This report documents our investigations during the first year of this project and the first year of pre-construction baseline monitoring for the Howard Hansen Dam Additional Water Storage Project.  Includes estimates of Green River wild chinook freshwater production, migrant size, and migration timing.  In addition, this report also describes the results of our one-year juvenile chinook trapping project in the Big Soos Creek.  This project assessed the level of natural production resulting from hatchery parents spawning in the wild.
  • 2005 Green/Dungness/Cedar Creek
Greg Volkhardt, Pete Topping, and Lori Kishimoto, WDFW Science Division
This report includes activities for the Green River in the sixth year of this project.

Greg Volkhardt, Pete Topping and Dave Seiler.  December 2000
The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife Wild Salmon Production Unit was contracted by the Department of the Navy in 1998 through 2000 to provide a species and habitat assessment corrective design project for the Devil’s Hole watershed on the Naval Submarine Base, Bangor, Washington.  This report describes the methods and results of the species and habitat assessment work conducted during spring and summer 1999 and 2000.
  • Dungeness River Chinook Salmon Rebuilding Project
Chris Marlowe, Bill Freymond, Robert W. Rogers and Greg Volkhardt.  January 2001
This report on the captive brood stock effort aimed at the restoration of Dungeness River chinook salmon summarizes the production and in-river evaluation of the captive brood stock in Spring 1993 through August 2000.
