NOTICE: Region 2 East CLOSED at 5:30 PM on Wednesday, February 15th, 2017
Region 1 and Region 3-1 will remain open with a pot limit of 50 pots per license
Region 3-3 will remain open with a pot limit of 75 pots per license
**All remaining buoy tags for each license MUST be onboard the vessel and available for inspection.
As an example: If you have two permits and are fishing them both in Region 1, then you must have 100 buoy tags onboard your vessel and available for immediate inspection.
Timeline of the the 2016-17 Puget Sound State Commercial Crab Fishery:
Opened at 8am, Saturday, October 1st, 2016 with Pot Limits of 40 pots per license per buoy tag number in Region 2 East, Region 2 West and Region 3-2 and 50 pots per license per buoy tag number in Region 1, Region 3-1 and Region 3-3
State and Treaty Managers agreed to a 100,000 pound allocation increase in Region 2 West on October 3rd, 2016.
Region 2 East, Region 2 West and Region 3-2 closed at 6pm on Friday, October 7, 2016.
An emergency regulation CLOSED the Puget Sound State Commercial crab fishery in Region 1, Region 3-1, and Region 3-3 at 6:30 pm on Friday, October 28, 2016.
An emergency regulation reopened all commercial crab regions at 8:00 AM, December 15th, 2016. This includes Region 1, 2 East, 2 West, 3-1, 3-2 and 3-3. Pot limits in Region 1, 2 East, 3-1 and 3-3 are 50 pots per license. Pot limits in Region 2 West and 3-2 are 30 pots per license
Region 2 West and Region 3-2 closed at 5:00 PM on Wednesday, December 21st, 2016.
Effective 5:00 p.m., Saturday, December 31, 2016, until further notice, the
Everett Flats portion of Region 2 East will be CLOSED. This area is defined as follows:
portion of catch area 26A east of a line from Howarth Park due north to the
south end of Gedney Island, and that portion of 24B east of a line from the
north end of Gedney Island to Camano Head and south of a line drawn from Camano
Head to Hermosa Point
8:00 a.m., Sunday, January 1, 2017, until further notice, pot limits in Region 3-3
will increase to 75 pots per license. The remaining 25 pots
per license must
be onboard the vessel and available for inspection. Region 3-3 includes
MFSF Catch Areas 23C and 29.
An emergency regulation was finalized that increased the pot limits in Region 2 East to 75 pots per license at 8:00 AM, January 20, 2017. The remaining 25 buoy tags per license must be onboard the vessel and available for inspection. Region 2 East includes MFSF Catch Areas 24A, 24B, 24C, 24D and 26A East.

Current Commercial Targets outlined in the table below represent the current estimates for State commercial allocations in each of the Regions. These targets are based on the FINAL Recreational Summer Landings estimate (with EUC). Additionally, Preliminary 2017 Recreational Landings estimates for the Winter fishery have been included (with EUC). A 1% commercial EUC has also been included in the Commercial Target. This target may change slightly as the Recreational Winter numbers are finalized or additional allocation is negotiated.
