South Central Washington - Region 3

2013 Catchable Trout Plants

All trout are rainbow unless noted otherwise.
Most spring "catchables" are 1/3 to 1/2 pound each.
Larger "jumbo" rainbow trout range in size from 1 - 1.5 lbs each.
The "NS" designation means produced by WDFW at the Nelson springs rearing facility near Gleed. The "TL" designation means jumbos purchased from Troutlodge. The "LF" designation means produced by WDFW at Lyons Ferry Hatchery. The "RSH" designation means jumbos produced by WDFW at Ringold SpringsHatchery.
Most trout are stocked from March - June. In order to save feed and trucking costs, the small "sub-catchable" rainbows are no longer planted in the fall. Instead, larger sized rainbows are planted in the spring & early summer.
Brood stock rainbow trout (3-10 lbs each) are not normally available until winter.
