Other Description
Rule to Change:
TILTON RIVER (Lewis Co.) from mouth to West Fork (571) Col. R. Salmon/Steelhead Endorsement (p. 16) ALL SPECIES - Sept. 1-Oct. 31: night closure and anti-snagging rule. When anti-snagging rule is in effect, only fish hooked inside the mouth may be retained. TROUT First Sat. in June-Mar. 31 Min. size 8". Daily limit 5. Only 1 over 12" may be retained. Release CUTTHROAT. Release RAINBOW TROUT except those having a clipped adipose fin and a healed scar at the location of the clipped fin. Other Game Fish First Sat. in June-Mar. 31 Statewide min. size/daily limit. SALMON First Sat. in June-July 31 Min. size 8". Daily limit 6. Up to 2 adults may be retained. Release wild COHO. SALMON Aug. 1-Dec. 31 Min. size 8". Daily limit 6. Up to 2 adult CHINOOK may be retained. Release wild COHO and wild CHINOOK.
New Rule Proposal:
Change trout rule to: TROUT First Sat. in June-Mar. 31 Min. size 8". Daily limit 2. Release Cutthroat. Change Salmon Rule: (Eliminate the following) SALMON First Sat. in June-July 31 Min. Size 8". Daily Limit 6. Up to two adults may be retained. Release wild COHO.
Why the change is needed:
Tacoma Power is currently stocking catchable, adipose fin clipped rainbow trout into the West Fork Tilton River (FERC Mitigation). Beginning in 2013 they will no longer be able to release catchable trout due to the prohibition of releasing catchable trout in anadromous waters based on the WDFW Statewide Steelhead Management Plan. The proposed regulation reverts back to wild trout rules. Eliminate part of the SALMON rule because no salmon are released in June and July.
