Eastern Washington and Columbia Region Freshwater
Type of Rule Change Proposal
County or Location Information
Increase daily walleye limit on Scooteney Reservoir from 5 to 8.
ExplanationOriginal Rule Proposal Number(s)
The walleye population is abundant and does not require the current conservative daily bag limit. Many walleye are lost to the fishery prior to reaching the 12 to 16 inch size class because the irrigation system outflow carries them out of the reservoir. This makes the daily limit consistent with Moses Lake and Potholes Reservoir.

SHARP, RICHARD K November 25, 2012
This is an excellent proposal! The smaller walleye in this system reach 12-14 inches and prey heavily on the spiny ray species Perch/crappie/Bass. durring their spawn times and then migrate out of the system after consuming the fry.

Please pass rule change #16.
GODDARD, MERLIN December 07, 2012
increase limit to 8
DODD, JOEL D December 16, 2012
I support this proposal.
SMITH, TOM January 14, 2013
Support increase in bag limit given that they die elsewhere in the irrigation system
FRIEND, STEPHEN January 28, 2013
Agree with the proposal.
Question- Is there any way to keep the walleye from being sent down the canals?
