Eastern Washington and Columbia Region Freshwater
Type of Rule Change Proposal
County or Location Information
Open hatchery steelhead angling on the White Salmon River from the county road bridge below the former powerhouse to Northwestern Lake Road Bridge and require selective gear rules.
ExplanationOriginal Rule Proposal Number(s)
Condit Dam on the White Salmon River was breached in the fall of 2011 and salmonids now access the upper river. There has been a closure to fishing around the dam area due to safety concerns while the structure was being removed, In 2013 the area will be back open to the public. This regulation opens that area to sport fishing under selective gear rules and allows the retention of hatchery steelhead. These rules protect spawning salmonids as they recolonize this new area.

GIG HARBOR, WA
I am in favor of this proposal and all others that provide more angling opportunities for steelhead in washington especially under selective gear rule regulations.
ALLEN, DANIEL S October 11, 2012
I suggest doing this and also consider the river above the nw lake bridge during the winter months. Without the dam, there is no reason to close the river arbitrarily at the old reservoir. Perhaps at bz falls or big brother?
Winter steelhead fishing on the White Salmon is very popular.

I support this rule proposal.
