Rule to Change: UMBRELLA CREEK Clallam Co. and all tributaries outside Olympic National Park TROUT ... Min. size 14". Daily limit 2. Selective gear rules. (Release KOKANEE is actually in the pamphlet, but was inadvertently changed by emergency rule and included on the Errata to the pamphlet, so is here proposed to be changed back).
New Rule Proposal: UMBRELLA CREEK Clallam Co. and all tributaries outside Olympic National Park TROUT ... Min. size 14". Daily limit 2. Selective gear rules. Release KOKANEE.
Why the change is needed: Adding "Release KOKANEE" to Umbrella Creek and tributaries brings this water into uniformity with the other tributaries of Ozette Lake, where the sockeye salmon population is listed, and the kokanee population is receiving added protection because of its presumed association with the sockeye population.
A parallel rule change is needed and has been submitted for Elk Lake, Clallam Co., within the Umbrella Creek watershed.
Names of individuals or groups with whom you have discussed this change: Kirt Hughes.
Describe their support and/or concerns:
Needed for uniformity of management strategy within the Ozette watershed. It was inadvertently lost in the regulation shuffle.
