Rules Category: Eastern Washington and Columbia Region Freshwater
Species covered in proposed rule • Trout
Rule to Change: SKATE CREEK (Lewis Co.)
(tributary to Cowlitz River)
TROUT First Sat. in June-Oct. 31 Min. size 8". Daily limit 5. Only 1 over 12" may be retained. Release
CUTTHROAT. Release RAINBOW TROUT except those having a
clipped adipose fin and a healed scar at the location of the clipped fin.
Other Game Fish First Sat. in June-Oct. 31 Statewide min. size/daily limit.
New Rule Proposal: Change Trout Rule to:
TROUT First Sat. in June-Oct. 31 Min. size 8". Daily limit 2. Release cutthroat.
Why the change is needed: Tacoma Power is currently stocking Skate Cr. with adipose fin clipped rainbow trout. Beginning in 2013 they will no longer stock trout because of the prohibition against planting trout in anadromous waters which is a part of the WDFW Statewide Steelhead Management Plan. This proposed rule essentially reverts back to wild trout rules.
