Rule to Change: both the upper and lower zones of the Grande Ronde River have internal combustion motors prohibited. In the lower zone that prohibition is frmo Sept 1-May 31, and in the upper zone it is from Sept 1 to April 15.
New Rule Proposal: In the both zones the internal combustion motors prohibitions should be changed to September 15 through March 15, unless the river is over 3,000 cfs.
Why the change is needed: This change is needed to match the Asotin County motorized boating ordinance that was passed a couple of years ago. Consistency in the regulations for motorized boats is needed for the Grande River within WA state.
Names of individuals or groups with whom you have discussed this change: member of the citizen board that worked out the compromise for the Asotin County boaters ordinace for the Grande Ronde River, and an Asotin County Commissioner.
Describe their support and/or concerns:
They requested that WDFW change the fishing pamphlet to be in compliance with their new ordinance regarding use of motorized boats on the Grande Ronde River.
