Rule to Change: SPOKANE RIVER
from Upriver Dam to Idaho State boundary
Season: First Sat. in June-Mar.15
New Rule Proposal: Change Season to June 1-March 15
Why the change is needed: This date needs to be changed to coincide with the date for the Plese Flats Day Use Area to Monroe Street Dam which is June 1-March 15.
***The River is closed beginning 3/16 to protect Native Redband Rainbow Trout during their spawning period. This
trout population has declined significally in recent years. WDFW biologists & enforcement feel that anglers targeting & poaching spawning fish have been a major factor hence the closure.

WDFW Rule Proposal Recommendation
Not Recommended for further consideration Reference ID: DFW805305
Spokane River has rules that already are in place to protect spawning redband rainbow trout. This regulation as written does not further protect spawning redband trout.
