Rule to Change: The existing rule is the "Flyfishing Only" rule on the Kalama River.
New Rule Proposal: I would like WDFW to get rid of the rule.
Why the change is needed: The rule dates back further than anyone in Region 5 office can even remember why it's there or how it came to be. It serves a very limited section of the fishing/outdoor community and does nothing to perserve or enhance fish or recreation opportunities for the fishing public. It's nearly impossible to enforce and it removes a large portion of the river from the general fishing community for a large time frame.
Names of individuals or groups with whom you have discussed this change: Columbia River Chapter of NW Steelheaders
Describe their support and/or concerns:
No one in our group knows why the rule was enacted originally, all were in support of opening up the river to ALL members of the fishing community during this period.
