LIDEN, DENNIS L September 21, 2012 GIG HARBOR, WA Comments: I live a couple of miles from Minter Creek and the Hatchery.
I fish Chum in the creek in November and have on occasion hooked wild Steelhead in the creek. As well I know of others that have hooked Steelhead also. I think that every effort should be made to protect this run of fish.
Also, I think there would be a lot of people fishing the creek in order to catch and release the Spring Chinook, Fall Chinook, and Coho as they are returning to the hatchery. Some of which would most likely be illeagally retained.
I'm against oppening this small creek in order to protect any and all wild populations resideing in or using the creek for spawning. LYLE, DAVE J September 22, 2012 GIG HARBOR, WA Comments: If you are proposing opening the creek below the hatchery/creviston bridge you are making a huge mistake. As a property owner(check the address)it is hard enough keeping the poachers out now.June-Oct 31st will have many "troutfisherman" targeting White river Kings/Fall Kings/Coho and SRC.In addition to that I propose that you check the property lines. In so doing you will see that you are inviting people to trespass on private property.I dont want to put a fence up but I will. Please reconsider....Dave Lyle TACHELL, JONATHAN T October 08, 2012 GIG HARBOR, WA Comments: I have been fishing minter creek for 20 years until it was recently closed. I am in support of it reopening for trout angling especially under selective gear rule regulations. However, I would like to see it as a catch and release fishery as it is a small stream and large sea run cutthroat trout are rare and a special native species that deserves protection while allowing recreational opportunity. TACHELL, ART J October 09, 2012 TACOMA, WA Comments: great idea. it was sad to see it close. I grew up fishing that stream. JACOBS, JEREMY November 02, 2012 SEATTLE, WA Comments: Searun cutthroat fishing should be catch and release only. The reason why we have the numbers of searun cutthroat is the catch and release fishery in the salt water. Kill this proposal, not the fish. LYLE, CAROLE S November 24, 2012 GIG HARBOR, WA Comments: As a neighbor, on Minter Creek, I have enough problems with fisherman (snaggers, mostly) in the 2 months that the creek is open. I see a lot of illegal goings-on down there, and do not like it in my back yard & opening the creek more is asking for more crime in the area and possibly onto my property. A really bad idea - shutting the creek down completely is a better idea. CARVER SR., RUSSELL L November 29, 2012 LAKETAPPS, WA Comments: Don't pass rule change #51
