State Dept. of Health cautions that Clams, Oysters and Mussels from the southern part of this beach ( see beach map) are not fit for human consumption at any time.
Harvesters are advised to stay well north of the closed part of this beach. The northern boundary of this beach (see beach map) is about 100 yards south of the Highway 101 bridge over Clark Creek. The distance from the northern boundary to the closed area is about 800 yards.

HARVEST PROFILE
Not much is known about the clam populations on North Hoodsport Hatchery Beach, and most of the beach is rocky, but there are reports of native littleneck clams, Manila clams and butter clams in pockets of sand and gravel substrate.
There are oysters available on this beach.

DIRECTION TO SITE
From the south (Olympia, Shelton, Portland) travel north on Highway 101 along Hood Canal. Pass through the town of Hoodsport. The harvestable portion of the beach begins about 0.4 miles north of the Hoodsport Hatchery. Parking is very limited. There are two small parking spots on the shoulder of HIghway 101 near the southern end of the beach. Public parking is also available at the Hoodsport Hatchery. Please use extreme caution when crossing and walking along the highway.
From the north (Port Angeles, Kingston) travel south on Highway 101 through the town of Lilliwaup and continue for another three miles. North Hoodsport Hatchery Beach starts about 100 yards after you cross Clark Creek. Parking is very limited. Please use extreme caution when crossing and walking along the highway.
FACILITIES There are public restrooms at Hoodsport Hatchery and pit toilets at the Hoodsport public dock. Hoodsport has stores and restaurants.
