Triploids for Dad! West Medical Lake is getting over 1,200 extra triploid rainbow trout of about 1-1/2 pounds each just for Father's Day weekend, June 15-16, 2013. West Medical is one of only two lakes near Spokane that are receiving these extra big trout to encourage you to take Dad fishing!
Generally, this is one of the best producing opening day trout lakes in the state. This lake grows fish rapidly and it is not uncommon to see rainbow and brown trout to 24 inches. Even though this lake is open to all types of angling, it can be an especially productive lake for flyfishing because of the consistent insect hatches it has in April and May.
This lake experienced a fish kill in the fall of 2011. Stocking efforts by WDFW in 2012 and 2013 should have the lake in decent shape for 2013 fishing season.
