To report an oil spill call: 1-800-258-5990 If you receive notification of a spill at work [ PDF Format ] WDFW Oil Spill Team The Department of Fish and Wildlife Oil Spill Team (OST) is a key component of Washington State’s oil spill response program. Since it’s formation in 1992, the OST has provided round-the-clock oil spill response capability to address the needs of fish and wildlife resources. The OST also provides extensive technical support to the State’s oil spill planning and preparedness efforts. Funding for the team comes from a portion of the state tax levied on Washington petroleum imports. As a natural resource trustee, the team’s mission includes a responsibility to be a strong voice for fish and wildlife in the oil spill response community. In support of this mission, OST members work with representatives of other state and federal agencies, tribes, and other stakeholders to protect natural resources from petroleum spills and serve as advocates for the restoration of fish and wildlife resources impacted by oil spills. As a unit within WDFW, all of the team’s resources are focused on the needs of fish and wildlife. The OST provides support services in three primary areas: Natural Resource Protection, Oiled Wildlife Rescue, and Natural Resource Damage Assessment (NRDA).
