Public/Tribal Involvement
The participation of other government agencies, tribes, and other
interested parties is crucial to the development of the Hydraulic
Project Approval HCP. For that reason, public involvement was the
first aspect of the project that WDFW initiated. WDFW formulated
a comprehensive public
involvement strategy to guide public participation throughout
HCP development.
Previously Held Public Meetings
In April and May of 2007, WDFW held a series of public meetings
across the state to introduce the Hydraulic Project Approval HCP
effort and receive early public input. Meetings were held in Yakima
(April 30), Cashmere (May 1), Spokane (May 2), Mt. Vernon (May 8),
Lacey (May 10), and Vancouver (May 15). The meetings were fairly
well attended and provided a good starting point for getting interested
parties involved in the planning process. The presentation used
at the public meetings and a summary of the input received can be
downloaded below.

As HCP planning continues, WDFW will use the web page and updated
fact sheets to inform interested parties of project progress and
opportunities for public involvement.
Tribal Involvement
WDFW is committed to engaging the tribes of Washington, as well
as tribes outside Washington with treaty rights in the state, on
a government-to-government level throughout development of the HCPs.
We have begun a dialogue and will continue to collaborate on technical
and policy aspects of the HPA HCP.
