It depends on what methods you are using. When you are using certain small types of mineral prospecting equipment and are working under the Mineral Prospecting Without Timing Restrictions chapter in the Gold and Fish pamphlet, you are not required to have the pamphlet with you or on the job site. However, you must still follow the rules in the pamphlet.

When you are using larger types of mineral prospecting equipment and working under the Mineral Prospecting With Timing Restrictions chapter in the Gold and Fish pamphlet or under an individual HPA, you must have the pamphlet or HPA with you or on the job site. You must follow the rules in the pamphlet or HPA.
