Have the state’s efforts to remove California sea lions been effective?

From 2009 through 2015, those efforts generally helped to reduce both the number of California sea lions feeding below Bonneville Dam and the percentage of the salmon and steelhead run lost each year. Wildlife managers estimate that the states’ efforts at Bonneville have saved 15,000 to 20,000 spring chinook that would have otherwise been eaten by California sea lions.
