Seasons are based upon negotiations with coastal tribes, social-economic concerns, population/allowable harvest surveys, tides, and marine toxins sampling by the Department of Health. The process is complex and very time consuming. Future seasons cannot be predicted with much confidence, so people interested in digging razor clams should pay diligent attention to WDFW news releases and the WDFW Razor Clam Season webpage for updates. Usually there is very little advance notice about approved razor digs and/or open beaches.
