Please refer to the chronic wasting disease section of the Big Game Hunting Regulation pamphlet. This section lists the states and provinces from which the importation of meat and trophies are now regulated. These areas currently include: Colorado, Illinois, Kansas, Maryland, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, New Mexico, New York, North Dakota, South Dakota, Pennsylvania, Texas, Utah, Virginia, West Virginia, Wisconsin, and Wyoming, along with two locations in Canada, Alberta and Saskatchewan. This list is subject to change, and the current Big Game Hunting Regulation pamphlet should be consulted for the latest information. If you hunt deer, elk, or moose in these states or provinces the following items only may be imported to Washington to reduce the risk of transmitting chronic wasting disease:
In addition, if you are notified by another state fish and wildlife agency that the deer, elk, or moose you harvested has tested positive for CWD, you must notify the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife within 24 hours. Violation of this rule is an infraction. (RCW 77.15.160) For more information on Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) see WDFW's Chronic Wasting Disease website.
